A beautiful area, great for nature lovers, with government-led development plan improving the infrastructure and facilities
Traditionally an agricultural region, growing citrus, vegetables and cotton, Dalaman was put on the tourist map by its international airport. Local attractions include several excellent beaches which are nesting sites for sea turtles, thermal mud baths and the ruins of ancient Kaunos. The area as a whole offers unspoilt rural countryside, with white water rafting and excellent bird-watching.
The government's decision to channel investment into the area's infrastructure as part of an ambitious tourism development project has encouraged intense interest from developers and private buyers. There are 70,000 new hotel beds planned for the area, with a new golf course due for completion in 2008 and several more on the drawing board.
Despite rapid increases over the last 3 years, property in the area is still cheapper than in neighbouring resorts.
