There are two main routes from the UK to Turkey. The northern route passes through Belgium, Germany,
Austria, Hungary, Romania or Serbia and Bulgaria before reaching the Turkish border at Edirne. The
southerly route is through France and Italy, catching a car ferry from Brindisi or Bari to Greece and
continuing by road; or alternatively catching a ferry from Italy to the Turkish port of
Cesme near Izmir.
