New luxury development in Cappadocia

20 November 2006

The O Property Collection (OPC), an ultra-luxury developer based in Vienna, have announced plans to create a development in the Cappadocia region of central Turkey, which is one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions on account of its amazingly eroded landscape and Christian heritage of cave churches and monasteries.

The company has signed a 49-year lease allowing it to renovate a large area of cave dwellings and stone houses in the village of Kayakapi, turning them into a luxury tourism and recreational area that includes restaurants, shops, museums and lodgings, accompanied by a boutique hotel and villas. The company, established by Turkish businessmen Dr. Kinay and Oguz Serim, aims to provide unparalleled service, exotic locations and innovative design, with other developments planned for the Turk and Caicos Islands.

“In years to come, The O Property Collection will be recognized as the brand that reinvented the high-end living experience,” says Dr. Kinay.

Despite the area’s amazing landscape, historic attractions and the many stone-built and underground cave houses ideal for renovation, Cappadocia attracts very few foreign property buyers. Derelict cave houses can be snapped up for as little as £15,000, with renovated properties in popular locations, such as Goreme or Urgup, fetching over £85,000.

“Cappadocia offers affordable properties and the ability to shape a dream house from the historic local buildings using our skilled local craftsmen,” explains Murat Ozguc of Buy Cappadocia (www.buycappadocia.com). "Nearby Kayseri airport offers international access also.”
