Turkish awards at the 'Property Oscars'

20 November 2006

Turkish real estate agents and developers were in the spot-light at the 13th annual International Property Awards- known as the ‘Oscars of the property world’. This year’s entries were judged by a panel chaired by Eric Pickles, British Shadow Secretary of State, and including Phil Spencer, co-presenter of Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location, and industry heavyweights such as Peter Bolton King, head of the National Association of Estate Agents. The 150 separate awards were presented at a glittering ceremony at London’s Marriott Hotel on 3 November.

Commenting to the Overseas Property Professional Magazine after the event, awards manager Dawn Draper said: “The competition to be ‘the best’ is taken very seriously and this has resulted in a visible improvement in standards, which benefits buyers.”

Among the Turkish wins was a 5-star Best Turkish Estate Agent award scooped by Northampton-based Headlands International (www.headlands.co.uk) for the second year running, while developers Nicholas Homes (www.nicholas-homes.com) and Regnum (www.regnum.co.uk) both won 4-star awards for Best Turkish Development for their Nicholas Gate and Bargylia projects.

A 4-star award for Best Turkish Architecture was presented to Nirvana International for the Augustus Village near Belek, Antalya.

“The properties are designed by English architects but reflect some of the more traditional buildings of old Turkey - with a touch of modernity,” explains Robert Nixon, director of Nirvana International.
