British visitors to Bulgaria expected to increase
14 November 2007 Bulgarian tour operators at the London World Travel Market, a trade exhibition for the global travel industry, are predicting a 10-15% increase in visitor numbers from Britain in 2008.
"Summer sales are very good at present and we expect overall growth in bookings for 2008," says Chris Rand, marketing manager at Bulgarian package operator Balkan Holidays ( www.balkanholidays.co.uk ).
Industry sources report that 4- and 5-star hotels are the most popular with British tourists, with growing interest in all-inclusive packages.
"Sunny Beach, as always, is the 'hot-spot' but we are also promoting Golden Sands as we are the only tour operator with charter flights to Varna so we expect to see growth in this resort," comments Rand.
Despite a slow start, Balkan Holidays are also reporting a surge in ski bookings as snow has started falling in the country's largest resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo.
